There was a time among many times, when there was a need and that need stirred a man who cared for the community. This man's name was Ron, and that need became a twinkle in Ron's eyes. He knew he could not meet this need on his own, so he searched among his flock and found another man who cared, and in whom he could well place his trust to help him. This man's name was Ken. Ron said to Ken 'Go out and search among the community and gather together a band of good men who care as you and I care' So Ken in the twelfth month of the year 1981 accepted his commission from Ron and ventured forth, seeking diligently, deeply and long into all the corners of the community, in which there was that need. And so it came to pass after many weeks of searching, weeding and preaching the word of Rotary, Ken had gathered together one score and - four other good men who cared. So Ken went back to the man named Ron and said "I have done as you commissioned me to do". Then Ron said to Ken "1 am well pleased with you Ken, go now also and lead these one score and four good men out into the world of Kenwick and guide them in helping your fellow man and meet the need that is there, but be not selfish in administering to that need, but extend your help to others in the world who have that need, so that you will become part of a great band of men who care all over the worth striving to build bridges of friendship, peace and goodwill between all nations and races of people. And Ron said to Ken your band of men shall be called "The Rotary Club of Kenwick", in which I want to be proud. Go lead them well and teach others of your band to lead in your footsteps and enjoy each others fellowship, to tighten the burden along the way — do this and your band will survive throughout the years in meeting the need that is there. And so it came to pass, that in the third month and on the 9th day in the year of 1982, Ken fulfilled his task and led his one score and four out into the world of need, and so 'The Rotary Club of Kenwick' was born.
